How many members can a Relay team have?
2, 3, 4 or 5 (one can be a MTB rider)
Can I take a support vehicle?
No,Sorry,no: we provide transport for you and your bike. You will be turned back.
Can a member ride non-consecutive legs?
No our logistics do not allow this.
How do I get to and from the change-over points?
Buses. See times and boarding area in our welcome guide
How does my bike get to and from the changeovers?
By our Bike transporters
Is my bike safe on those big carriers?
We have a capable and long-standing loading and unloading crew.
How do I know what bus to catch?
You will be sent or E mailed a timetable in our welcome guide.
Can we change our Relay team members?
Yes this can be done, but inform us.
What happens if I or my bike breaks down?
We have mechanics at the start, on course and at changeovers.
What happens if I miss the 2 hour rule?
Your outgoing rider will be given a timing chip and sent off.
Which are the hardest, easiest legs
Hardest to easiest 1-3-2-4 (MTB if chosen is the start leg and is constant)
When shall I take my bike to the loading racks?
Preferably Friday afternoon or evening: full details in Welcome Guide.
Do I need a flash bike?
Not at all, many relay riders cycle on town bikes: it’s your legs that get you there.
Can I have an escort?
No, no,no, only if you are an under10 heart rider.
Is the course safe with all those cyclists.
The Relay ride is very safe and we are proud of our safety record.
Is my leg of the Relay timed?
All legs are timed including the Heart Riders.
I am the first rider, where do I start?
In Taupo’s main Street at 8 30am. Position yourself according to your ability. Your timing starts as you pass over the timing mats.
