Avanti Men's Classic
Race - Start 6:45am
The Classic is a race over a 160 km course, with the finish
being on Tongariro Street. The race has the support of Bike NZ. Registered commissaires marshal the race. Personal wheel wagons are not allowed,
but there are three official wheel wagons. There is a
photo finish with backup transponder timing. The Classic starts at 6:45 am Saturday.
The Mens Classic is now a Road National Points Race complete
with team options

Criteria for Acceptance into the Classic
- The Classic is for men only (for women we offer the Hot-Dog Street Race)
- Hold a current racing licence (day licences will no longer be available for purchase)
- Have a Cycle Challenge best time of 4:15 or less
- Entries will be vetted by the Classic Race Manager and a Bike NZ official
- Field limited to the first 100 accepted entries, plus 20 entries at the Classic Race Manager’s discretion
- Significant prize money will be offered
NOTE: Any rider failing the automatic qualifying criteria is invited to submit any relevant performance details and final acceptance will be determined by the event organisers and Bike NZ and their decision shall be final. All entries to the Classic remain provisional until you receive your confirmation of entry.
The cost of entry for 2008 has been set at $100.
Safety
Safety is paramount. We do all that we can to make your Challenge a safe experience, but you must have your bike and helmet checked. Many cycle shops will be offering free cycle safety checks (although necessary repairs are not free!).
Police Traffic Safety Officers and St John Ambulance patrol the course.

Refreshments
Refreshments will be available from a variety of outlets on the Riverside Park area. |
