The Huka Challenge

The Huka Challenge is a new off road challenge designed specifically for mountain bike riders. The Huka Challenge is a non competitive 70 kilometre mountain bike ride on a par with the iconic 160km Solo ride around Lake Taupo.
The cost of entry is $80
The Course
Like all other solo rides the Huka Challenge starts and finishes on Taupo’s Tongariro Street. The course will head north over the Control Gates Bridge and enter the Wairakei Forest. The course will then follow the Waikato River out to Aratiatia Dam and return via the Rotary Ride, crossing the Huka Falls along the way. Exact details of the course will be released prior to the event.
The course is primarily a single track reaching Grade 4 in difficulty and event organisers stress that it is a demanding course suited to fit and experienced riders.
The Start
Huka Challenge will start from 7.15 am. Times are recorded
by transponder as riders cross the start and finish lines.
